Team USA delivered a stellar performance in Para Equestrian at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, clinching the Team gold medal on Friday.

Here’s a revised version of the text:

The American team secured their third title in the Para Equestrian competition at the Paris 2024 Paralympics, with team members Fiona Howard (riding Diamond Dunes) and Rebecca Hart (on Floratina) adding to their individual gold medals. Roxanne Trunnell, who claimed silver in Grade I with Fan Tastico H, was also part of the victorious U.S. team.

Howard's exceptional 80.000% was the highest individual score of the Paralympics so far, securing the team's gold.

The Netherlands, the reigning World champions, finished with the silver medal, while Germany took bronze. Italy placed fourth, with hosts France in fifth, an improvement from their sixth-place finish at Tokyo 2020. Great Britain, who had won every Team title since 1996, finished in sixth.

A Close Contest

Sixteen teams competed at the esplanade near the iconic Palace of Versailles, with enthusiastic flag-waving fans cheering on their nations.

Each team’s Chef d'Equipe selected three athletes from their four representatives to compete for the Team medals, based on their performances in the Individual event and the Team Para Grand Prix B test.

It was a tight battle between the USA, who had dominated the Individual medals, and the Netherlands. Ultimately, Grade II Individual gold medalist Fiona Howard’s score stood out, being the only one to break the 80% mark.

Teammates Roxanne Trunnell, with 77.000%, and Rebecca Hart, with 78.567%, sealed the win for Team USA.

Dutch Take Silver Again

The Netherlands finished just behind the USA with 232.850 points, thanks to strong performances from Sanne Voets (Demantur), Demi Haerkens (Daula), and Rixt van der Horst (Royal Fonq), all of whom had earned Individual medals earlier in the week. Their performance mirrored their silver-medal finish from Tokyo 2020.

Germany claimed the bronze with a total of 223.116 points, led by Grade V silver medalist Regine Mispelkamp (Highlander Delight's) with 75.500%. Teammates Anna-Lena Niehues (Quimbaya 6) and Heidemarie Dresing (Doolop) earned 75.351% and 72.900%, respectively, just edging out fourth-place Italy, whose standout was Grade I bronze medalist Sara Morganti (Mariebelle) with 79.458%.

Belgium finished seventh, followed by Denmark, Austria, Ireland, Canada, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, and Finland.

The Para Dressage event concludes on Saturday with the Freestyle competition, where the top eight Individual finishers in each grade will have one final opportunity to secure a medal.
