Adrian Wojnarowski, renowned for his NBA coverage at ESPN, is set to retire from the company to pursue a new role in college basketball.
Longtime sports reporter Adrian Wojnarowski will be taking on a new role at St. Bonaventure, his alma mater, as the general manager of its men’s basketball program, the university announced.
Wojnarowski, known for breaking major NBA news — so much so that his reports were dubbed “Woj bombs” — often competed with The Athletic’s Shams Charania to be the first with the latest updates.
“I’ve known and admired Woj since we first worked together at Yahoo! in 2007. His work ethic is second to none,” said ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro. “He’s extraordinarily talented and fearless. He has led the industry at ESPN, and his dedication to the craft and to fans is legendary.”
The role of general manager has become increasingly popular in college sports, particularly in the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) era, as athletic departments seek to support their programs and student-athletes in navigating endorsement opportunities.
